WHAT HAPPENED

A temporary limitation in Apple’s diagnostic system.

Following Apple’s release of iOS 26.2.1, some devices were temporarily unable to complete component diagnostics or calibration — even when original or Apple-certified parts were installed.

01

What customers saw

Some devices could not complete component diagnostics or calibration through Apple’s Repair Assistant workflow.

02

Why it caused concern

Apple diagnostics are used to verify components following certain battery and display repairs, so an unsuccessful verification could understandably appear to indicate a repair or hardware issue.

03

The key point

The issue was with Apple’s diagnostic system itself — not the device, not the repair, and not the parts installed.

CURRENT STATUS

The issue is now resolved.

We’ve since confirmed and tested that Apple has resolved the diagnostics limitation. iOS 26.2.1 diagnostics-dependent workflows can proceed normally again.

iOS 26.2.1 is safe to use

Apple diagnostics are functioning normally

Battery and display repairs can be verified as expected

No downgrade or workaround is required

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

If your device was repaired during this period.

The temporary diagnostics limitation did not change the function or reliability of the repair itself.

Your installed parts remain functional

Your installed parts remain fully functional and reliable.

No impact on performance

There was no impact on device performance or longevity from the diagnostics limitation.

Flags were system-related

Any diagnostic flags encountered during that window were system-related, not hardware-related.

Need verification completed? If your repair required verification, it can now be completed without issue.
