LFG is Here! Fix Factory Now Has the Lowest Priced Fix Guarantee
Having your iPhone battery last only a few hours, after charging alllllllll night, can be frustrating. Sometimes you’ve had enough, and decided to install a new battery in your iPhone from your local fix shop. Sometimes it can be a battery health issue, where your battery is just not good any longer, and/or the lithium ion is no longer reacting, which requires a shiny, newly installed battery – and hopefully you chose Fix Factory to replace it. But what happens when your newly installed battery, or factory original one, doesn’t seem to perform or lasts mere minutes to hours? Let’s take a look at how your iPhone’s battery experience can be improved with Fix Factory’s 7 recommended day-to-day practices:
Avoid extreme temperatures, both hot and cold. The high temperature could increase the resistance of charge passing through your battery’s nodes, resulting in more heat radiated from your battery. Lower temperature could slow the chemical reaction in your lithium-ion battery. Hence your battery won’t be able to disperse charge, or little charge and reduce your iPhone’s battery experience. It’s best to keep your iPhone within a comfortable temperature range, usually ambient is the best.
Minimize the amount of time your battery is charged or discharged (100%/0%). Either end of the spectrum can be detrimental for your battery health. Try to keep it between 40% – 80% as this is the best standby charge range. If you won’t be using your iPhone for a few days – keep its charge to this range before switching it OFF.
Forget those fast chargers – unless your device came with it. They are convenient, but more often than not, may ruin your battery health and may drain its capacity to hold charge more quickly, thus you will require a battery replacement more often. Fast charging blocks work by increasing the ampere or current that your battery receives, decreasing charging time, but at the cost of your battery health.
Enable auto-lock; if we turn on auto-lock and set the preferred time (usually around 10secs – 60secs) in which your display, the most power consuming part in your phone, will automatically turn off, you will increase the life of your battery significantly. Also having in a lower brightness setting will help with battery health and life.
Turn on dark mode; if you switch on the dark mode, the Black area pixels go to ‘sleep’ essentially. By using the night/dark mode setting, we noticed a better battery life compared to that without dark/night mode. However, this has limitations – only OLED displays will show an improvement with battery life and health, as the others (e.g. LCD) have a backlight and thus this option generally won’t work.
Turn OFF location services, or at least restrict which apps use it in the background; When location services is always working in the background, you’ll see an exaggerated decrease in battery life and health giving degrading your iPhone’s battery experience. If you don’t want to location services off completely, consider looking at each apps location settings, and either turn them off or when only using the app.
Turn on Wi-Fi instead of a cellular network when you have both facilities. Try to avoid using mobile data when you have access to Wi-Fi because mobile data Consumes more battery life than Wi-Fi, thus degrading your iPhone’s battery experience.
Your Screen is the largest part of your iPhone, and for obvious reasons, it consumes the largest chunk of your battery. Turning on “Auto-Brightness” may help save your battery life. To do this, navigate to Settings>Accessibility>Display & Text Size>toggle on Auto-Brightness. Over time, this will save your iPhone battery’s life and capacity and enhance your iPhone’s battery experience.
Another one of the less obvious things to do is to turn off the “Background App Refresh”. When you close an app, it will continue running until entering a suspended state. Background App Refresh will allow those apps to still check for updates and new content and thus drain your battery more quickly, degrading your iPhone’s battery experience. Head to Settings>General>Background App Refresh to turn this off completely or choose which apps you’d like to keep on.
Then, there’s Siri. Siri’s Active Listening feature and Siri Suggestions may significantly decrease your talk time and battery life. To turn off active listening, head to Settings>Siri & Search>“Listen for “Hey Siri.” Under Siri suggestions, which we’ve never used, you can toggle which ones you want on and which ones you want off, which may enhance your iPhone’s battery experience.
The last, more obvious power saving tip, is to toggle on your iPhone’s “Low Power Mode”. With Low Power Mode enabled, your phone will only perform essential tasks, with background activities, like downloads & mail refreshing/fetching, being disabled. Low Power Mode will automatically turn on when the battery falls below the 15-20% limit, with some models limiting further the display brightness and phone functionality at 5% battery life remaining. However still, you may find it useful to activate it manually in order to keep your phone operating for longer periods of time and Enhance iPhone Battery Experience. Please note, this function generally only works if your phone’s battery life is below 80%. To save more power, head to Settings>Battery>Low Power Mode and toggle it on. When activated, the battery icon should turn yellow/orangish. If all else fails, you can always buy a power bank, but hopefully, it won’t come to that with our iPhone battery saving tips!
